Ingredients of Easy Chicken Congee

  1. It's 10 cups of water.
  2. Prepare 2 cups of short grain rice.
  3. You need 2 of whole shredded chicken breast pieces(you may use thigh pieces if you like).
  4. Prepare 1 inch of julienne ginger pieces.
  5. You need 3 of green onions finely chopped.
  6. It's of Salt to season.
  7. Prepare 2 pinches of crushed black pepper to season.
  8. You need of few drops of soy sauce(optional).
  9. It's of few drops of fragrant sesame oil (optional).

Easy Chicken Congee instructions

  1. Rinse the rice several times using a fine colander to begin with.
  2. Add the water needed to cook in a heavy bottom sauce pan to boil.
  3. Add the rinsed rice as the water is boiling.
  4. Once the water is on a roaring boil, reduce heat and add the chicken pieces.
  5. Now add the salt and pepper.
  6. Mix well and cook covered for atleast 30 minutes, as the porridge needs to thicken.
  7. Once thick enough, turn off the heat.
  8. Add the ginger pieces, and few drops of sesame oil. mix well.
  9. Transfer into serving bowls.
  10. Garnish with chopped green onions,few drops of soy sauce and a dash of pepper if needed.
  11. Serve immediately and enjoy!.
